CHICAGO — Danielle Marciniak, Roseman University College of Dental Medicine ’18, has been selected by the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) Board of Trustees as the recipient of the 2015 Rising Leader Award. The award is presented to an ASDA member who has demonstrated a commitment to leadership development at the national and/or chapter level during the first or second year in dental school. Marciniak will receive funding to attend ASDA’s National Leadership Conference, Oct. 30 – Nov. 1 in Chicago, and accept her award.
The Rising Leader Award recognizes the importance of developing leadership skills early in a dental student's career, as well as a commitment to organized dentistry. It also reflects ASDA’s vision of advancing the dental profession by developing exemplary leaders who demonstrate ASDA’s core values of passion, community, engagement and integrity. Ms. Marciniak was selected from a competitive field of extremely qualified candidates for possessing these and other outstanding leadership qualities.
In her first year at Roseman, Marciniak has served as Fundraising Chair, District 10 Communications Chair and District 10 Meeting Planning Committee member. She founded ASDA Helping Hands, a group that creates craft projects for various charities, and mobilized more than 30 students and faculty to crochet hats for patients at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. She also recently completed a four-week term as an extern at ASDA headquarters and plans to run for national office in hopes of serving on the Board of Trustees.
“Danielle’s background, work ethic, attention to detail, leadership style, and love for ASDA make her very deserving of this award,” says Sohaib Soliman, ASDA District 10 Trustee and third-year dental student at the University of Washington. “I am proud to have her on my district cabinet and can’t wait to see what she will achieve during her future with ASDA.”
The American Student Dental Association is the largest national organization that protects and advances the rights, interests and welfare of dental students and predentals.
