E_Healy Why do you want to be a dentist?
Of all the reasons I could list on why I think dentistry is a good fit for me, the one that has continued to carry me through dental school is being able to make a valuable difference in someone’s life. Believe me, I know it’s cliché. But as someone who went through 10+ years of orthodontic treatment, I can personally attest to the transformative power of dentistry. And as I muscle my way through the challenges of dental school, I continually witness all of the ways that I can be a positive force in someone’s life. And I remember just how fulfilling this work can be.

What do you think is the most vital quality in a leader?
The best leaders I have encountered are adaptable. Not only can they respond to unforeseen challenges, but they can also adjust their approaches to problem-solving with their teams, becoming whatever their team needs them to be under any given circumstances. At its core, this ability stems from selflessness and the understanding that the strength of your leadership lies in the strength of your team. I am most inspired by the leaders who, above all else, strive to build up the people around them, learning from both their successes and failures along the way.
