Why do you want to be a dentist: When I applied dental school, I had zero clue what I was signing up for. Dentistry includes so much more than I gathered from shadowing! What I love most about dentistry is its emphasis on science and education. I majored in microbiology, and there are so many intersections between dentistry and the immune system. The ways that oral and systemic health are intertwined fascinate me. I also enjoy educating my patients. I hope to someday be a pedodontist and help shape the way children and their families value oral health over their lifetimes.

What is the most vital quality in a leader: Gratitude is one of the most valuable skills a leader can employ. Purposefully and specifically expressing gratitude to your classmates, teachers, staff and patients shows your appreciation for their sacrifices and makes them more willing to work with you in the future.
