Why do you want to be a dentist?
I actually grew up not wanting to be a dentist. My mom is a dentist, and the constant pushing for me to become a dentist really turned me off to the profession. However, I slowly saw everything that I wanted in a career. The personal connections we make with our patients and the tangible improvement that we can make on their lives. All of it inspired me to become a dentist and help others.
What do you think is the most vital quality in a leader?
Adaptability is a quality that I think all leaders should have. There are always times when situations don’t go as planned and changes happen on short notice, no matter how much you try to avoid them. Contingency-planning and the intuition to make the most of a bad situation is paramount. The way you perform when everything goes wrong says a lot of the kind of leader you are.
