Join Student Loan Professor and DWOQ Founder Brandon Barfield as he dives into borrowing and repayment strategies for dentists. Whether you are just starting dental school, or are counting down the days until graduation, student loans are a costly and stressful reality for most dental students. This presentation will help you understand the borrowing and repayment options, and help you formulate a strategy to become debt free as efficiently as possible.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Discern the types of loans available to fund dental school, and how interest accrues.
  2. Understand the pros and cons of income driven repayment plans, discern if and when to utilize them, and employ a bit of strategy to maximize savings from them.
  3. Evaluate refinancing opportunities, understand the marketplace, and know how to find the best refinancing rates.
  4. Understand the general shift in policy currently happening with student loan repayment, and how political factors directly impact the options available to borrowers.

Director and Co-Founder of DWOQ

Brandon Barfield is the Director and Co-Founder of Doctors Without Quarters and is nationally known as a student loan expert for graduate health professions.  Since 2011, Brandon has given hundreds of loan repayment presentations for schools, hospitals, and healthcare conferences across the country, and is regularly requested to present at some of the nation’s most prestigious institutions. He also serves as a consultant for hospitals looking to incorporate loan repayment into their recruitment strategies and compensation packages.

Previously, Brandon was a Financial Aid Supervisor at Kaplan University, worked in financial planning for The Henssler Financial Group, and served as an Enlisted Officer in the US Army.  He earned a BBA in Finance from Kennesaw State University, as well as an MBA from Kaplan University. With his diverse background in financial aid, financial planning and student loan advisory, Brandon has a broad understanding of the intricacies surrounding student loans, loan repayment strategies, and how they should be considered when providers make other financial decisions.
