Why do you want to be a dentist?
There are numerous motivations behind my desire to become a dentist. When I was a little girl, my family dentist mentioned that oral health was connected to our overall systemic health, and that maintaining it would help prevent a variety of systemic problems. What she had said had always intrigued me and around the end of high school, I began shadowing dentists around my community. The more that I immersed myself in the dental profession, the stronger my interest grew. I noticed that there are so many people out there in the world that need dental care. I realized that I wanted to be able to provide treatment for those people one day, and also help educate them on the significance of oral health. Dentists consistently help those in need and make a true difference in lives. The work that a dentist performs goes beyond the dentist chair. A dentist really has the opportunity to change someone's life. To give back encouragement that will help in one’s potential is something that speaks volumes to me, and is an aspiration that I look forward to achieving in dentistry.

What are you most excited about for dental school?
I absolutely cannot wait for dental school! Learning how I can help alleviate pain and positively change the way people feel about themselves with their smile is something that excites me. I’ve always enjoyed being a hands-on learner, and in dental school, you use your dexterity skills to master the art of dentistry. Being able to truly impact people on this level as a dentist is something I love about the profession.

Why do you think you’ll make a good dentist?
I believe that I will make a good dentist because I am very determined, adaptable, and resilient. Through my personal experiences, I’ve found that I love being in a collaborative atmosphere and also being a leader. In a dental office, dentists, hygienists, assistants, and receptionists all make up a team. Being in this type of team environment is something that I love and thrive in. I have learned that a great team requires communication, commitment, and motivation to achieve success, which is what I plan to create in my future dental practice. While becoming a dentist is my greatest goal, I am positive that with my passion and strong work ethic, I can surely turn my dream into a reality. Knowing that I can enhance the oral health and confidence to as many people as possible would without a doubt, fill my heart with joy.

What excites you most about ASDA?
The development of leadership and interpersonal skills necessary to become a great dentist is the most fascinating aspect of ASDA for me. I've gained a lot of experience working with and leading many groups from various backgrounds. As a result of the skills I've gained through ASDA, I'm a stronger advocate for dentistry students' rights, interests, and community welfare.
