buff1Oral hygiene education and preventive dental care are effective and inexpensive ways to improve the quality of a patient’s life. Dental schools and dental students have the unique ability to serve their community, including traditionally underserved populations. 

Purpose of the Grant

This $500 grant is awarded to five chapters. It is intended to support ASDA chapters in coordinating a program or event that focuses on prevention of dental disease and/or promotion of oral health for any underserved population within the community.

Applications for the 2025 Dentistry in the Community Grant open August 1, 2025 and close on October 1, 2025 at 11:59 P.M. Central Time.

Dates and important deadlines:

  • Applications are due October 1, 2025.
  • The Council on Professional Issues will select grant recipients. Notifications will be sent by December 1, 2025.
  • Grant applications should be for in-person events.
  • National leaders are not eligible to apply.
  • Grants are for ASDA chapter events only. Funds cannot be used to cover travel costs to national or district meetings. Funds cannot be used for alcohol.
  • Event must be promoted as an ASDA chapter event and ASDA’s brand should be visible at the event through a banner, signs, PowerPoint slides, etc. The proposed event should be positioned to reach a majority of members and/or potential members. Grants will not be awarded for events designed for small groups (i.e. as your chapter’s board).
  • Event must be held by July 15, 2026.
  • Chapters receiving grants are required to submit a report. Reports should include the date, location, number of attendees, marketing, costs and specifics of the event. This information will be used as best practices for other chapters to use.

Chapter winners must abide by the above deadlines or may be subject to funds revocation.
