Why do you want to be a dentist?
Since high school, I knew I wanted to do something in the medical field because of my interest in the sciences and my desire to help others. I have always been fascinated by the little details in how things work in the world around me. After I shadowed a dentist, I was impressed by the variety of procedures you can perform along with the precision it requires. I further explored this career choice and felt more and more confident that dentistry was for me. Dentistry would allow me to utilize my passion for the details, while helping people with their smiles.
What are you most excited about for dental school?
In dental school, I am looking forward to taking everything that I have learned in my undergraduate coursework and tying it in with more specific studies centered around dentistry. I also hope to have opportunities to work on specific cases, where I can actually work with patients, and learn about challenges that may arise.
Why do you think you’ll make a good dentist?
I believe that I will make a good dentist for a few reasons. I have always treated people the way that I would want to be treated. Consequently, I plan to establish good relationships with my patients, where we can work together for their optimum care. In addition, I am a very hands-on person and detail-oriented. I enjoy problem-solving and I maintain focus and care when doing projects. I look forward to applying these skills as I help people and their oral health.
