As a member of the Organized Dentistry Coalition (ODC), ASDA works with other dental and healthcare organizations in coalition letters to advocate for dental students on a number of issues impacting dental education and oral health care. To further amplify the voices of dental students, ASDA also submits public comments on behalf of its 23,000 members to certain proposed rules from executive agencies.

2026

  • March 12, 2026: Supported the Improving Dental Administration Act (IDAA).
  • March 12, 2026: Joined coalition members opposing a policy reversal that allows states to consider adult dental benefits as an essential health benefit.
  • March 10, 2026: Submitted public comments highlighting the importance of access to adult dental benefits for patients who use ACA Marketplace.
  • March 2, 2026: Urged the Department of Education to delay implementing changes to federal student loans passed in the One Big Beautiful Bill.
  • Feb. 27, 2026: Joined organized dentistry in highlighting the importance of
    community water fluoridation for pediatric patients.

  • Nov. 21, 2025: Encouraged CMS to fill the vacant Chief Dental Officer (CDO) position.
  • Oct. 8, 2025: Wrote to U.S Citizenship & Immigration Services seeking clarity on new fees for international dentists.
  • Aug. 27, 2025: Wrote to the Department of Education with recommendations
    for the RISE Committee.
  • Aug. 25, 2025: Expressed concern with the implementation of changes to
    federal student loans.
  • July 31, 2025: Supported the Protect Our Treatment for Enamel, Erosion and
    Tooth Health (TEETH) Act.
  • June 24, 2025: Opposed language from the Senate HELP Committee modifying federal student loan programs.
  • June 19, 2025: Urged the Department of Defense to maintain fluoridation levels on overseas military bases.
  • June 9, 2025: Opposed eliminating PTET for small dental practices.
  • May 14, 2025: Supported the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act in Congress.
  • May 6, 2025: Advocated against cuts to oral health programs and research in the Department of Health and Human Services’s budget.
  • April 15, 2025: Affirmed the safety and efficacy of community water fluoridation to Congress members.
  • March 31, 2025: Supported the Dental Loan Repayment Assistance Act.
  • March 24, 2025: Urged CMS to maintain and strengthen the CDO position to ensure oral health care continues to be apart of conversations on healthcare policy.
  • March 4, 2025: Supported the Dental and Optometric Care (DOC) Access Act.
  • Jan. 10, 2025: The ODC urged the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to appeal the district court’s decision in Food & Water Watch v. EPA.
