New This Year! ASDA celebrated Access, Opportunity and Diversity in Dentistry (AOD) Week. In conjunction with Disability Awareness Month, AOD Week offered education and resources on the barriers patients face in oral health care with a spotlight on special care dentistry.

Monday:
ASDA hosted an Instagram Live, Paths to Purpose: Conversations in Student Leadership. Hear how student leaders approach leadership and the different styles they bring to the table. Moderated by Dominique Vickers, Council on Professional Issues Chair, Tufts ‘26.

Tuesday: 
ASDA launched its Disability Awareness Month Video Contest. The video will offer information, tips and resources on treating patients with special needs. Three lucky followers who liked and commented on the video were eligible to win one of three $50 gift cards. 

Wednesday: 
ASDA hosted a virtual interactive workshop focused on recognizing unconscious bias and practicing cultural humility to provide comprehensive, patient-centric care.

Thursday: 
Take Action! ASDA supports the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act, which would require health insurance companies to cover medically necessary services for birth defects including cleft lip or palate and maxillofacial deformities.

We wrapped up AOD Week by announcing the recipients of the Disability Awareness Month Video Contest on Instagram.
