Advanced Standing/International Dental Student (AS/IDP) Positions

Members on the ASDA Advanced Standing/International Dental Student (AS/IDP) Advisory Committee are appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve a year-long term. Committee members work closely with the Council on Membership to develop resources and benefits for AS/IDP members. They provide feedback on initiatives for students enrolled in an advanced standing or international dental program at a CODA-accredited dental school.

The Advisory Committee comprises one chair and four members:
  • The committee chair oversees the committee and leads all conference calls. 
  • Committee members participate in all conference calls and complete assigned tasks.

Term Length: Annual Session 2019 - Annual Session 2020

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must be an active predoctoral member at the time of application (applications will not be accepted from AS/IDP members who are not yet enrolled in an AS/IDP program).
  2. Completes projects or resolutions assigned by the House of Delegates or Board of Trustees.
  3. Must be able to complete assignments and responsibilities by established deadlines.

Responsibilities

AS/IDP member benefit strategy 

  • Assists in developing new resources and benefits for AS/IDP students.
  • Organizes AS/IDP member-focused webinars and maintains ASDA’s International Dentist Facebook page.

AS/IDP member recruitment and engagement strategy

  • Helps promote and recruit AS/IDP ASDA members.
  • Works with the Predental Advisory Committee to offer input on resources and initiatives for predental students interested in AS/IDP programs.

Committee management

  • Communicates AS/IDP Committee priorities to Council on Membership chair. 
  • Supervises activities of the AS/IDP Committee.
  • Works with staff to generate call agendas.
  • Mentors committee members.
  • Assists with orientation and transition of new committee members.
