2023-25 Strategic Plan

Mission: The American Student Dental Association is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests and welfare of dental students. It introduces students to lifelong involvement in organized dentistry and provides services, information, education, representation and advocacy.

Vision: To advance the dental profession by developing exemplary leaders and inspiring member advocacy.

Core Values: Passion, Community, Engagement and Integrity

Goals:

  1. Grow membership through increased member engagement and satisfaction to inspire an invested membership.
    Goal #1 Accomplishments:
    • Conducted an internal audit of member benefits and programming to determine value to member and relationship to ASDA’s mission. 
    • Evaluated ROI for each and identified areas of improvement.
    • Developed member survey and distributed to members.
    • Reviewed results of member survey.
    • Assessing predental membership category and evaluating future opportunities for predental market. 
    • Developing a program to improve communications and relationships with deans and administrators to ensure their support of ASDA membership.
  2. Evaluate the mission of ASDA national and district meetings and create a program that provides education and governance management to the members.
    Goal #2 Accomplishments:
    • Evaluated national meeting structure, schedule, mission statements, attendance, and meeting financial information.
    • Determined information needed from chapters and districts regarding their annual events.
    • Evaluated member engagement at national meetings based on results of member survey. 
    • Collected feedback from deans and administrators regarding ASDA meeting schedule.
    • Collected and evaluated district meeting data from trustees.
    • Evaluated national event education.
  3. View the mission of ASDA’s leadership structure and modify to meet the needs of the association.
    Goal #3 Accomplishments:
    • Reviewed current national leadership structure and positions including standing committees, management committees and advisory committees.
    • Reviewed council mission and council achievements against current association needs.
    • Reviewed the purpose of national, chapter and district.
    • Collected information on governance structure and election cycle for chapters and districts.
    • Developed recommendations to present to ASDA Board on national leadership structure and positions based on research done in phase one. 
    • Analyzed information on governance structure for chapter and district positions.
    • Identified areas for standardization of positions at the chapter and district level.
    • Analyzed leadership election cycles for national, chapters and districts.
    • Analyzed overall communication strategy to determine how information should be shared at a national, district and chapter level.
