How has ASDA helped you build your leadership skills?
ASDA has showed me how being a leader is by first being a servant. Being a servant to your peers, your community and to dentistry. It helped me build my leadership skills by allowing me to feel the pressure of constant work but be able to delegate the work to those I know I can trust. As a leader it is hard build the right atmosphere when times get tough but that is what makes the community of ASDA so beautiful: how everyone comes together to help.

What do you think is the most vital quality in a leader?
I believe being able to listen is a vital quality. As a leader if you can listen and act upon the needs of your classmates, there is no stronger quality. Being a motivator comes with listening, and I believe if you have a chapter that is fired up, you can get anything accomplished.

Why should members get involved with ASDA leadership positions?
“ASDA Fever” is real and once you get involved with a leadership position you never want to leave it. The connections you build will last a lifetime and the friendships that come along the way are priceless. Being able to help the movement of dentistry alongside the ones you love: what greater gift is there than that.

What future leadership roles in organized denstiry interest you and why?
Wherever I am needed I will go. I believe even the biggest role in organized dentistry cannot function properly without the smallest role. I love the president’s role in ASDA, and I can foresee myself continuing to reach the top to national ASDA. After I graduate, I want to continue to lobby on behalf of the ADA to our government and make a change wherever possible for the betterment of the people.
