The Advocacy Committee provides the member voice in developing advocacy resources to meet the needs of the member, including planning advocacy events, mentoring advocacy leaders and relaying advocacy activities and issues to national ASDA.

The committee comprises one chair, 13 district liaisons and board liaisons.

Position Descriptions

Advocacy Committee Chair

Term Length: Annual Session 2027-Annual Session 2028

The Advocacy Committee Chair is appointed by the ASDA Board of Trustees.

The Advocacy Committee Chair:

  • Supervises the activities of the Advocacy Committee.
  • Mentors committee district liaisons.
  • Approves all committee meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Provides advocacy resources for chapters and districts as needed.
  • Oversees Advocacy Month.

Meetings
The Advocacy Committee meets quarterly, with other opportunities to connect with chapter advocacy chairs throughout the term.

Advocacy Committee District Liaison

Term Length: Spring 2027-Annual Session 2028

District liaisons are appointed by their district trustee.

Advocacy Committee District Liaisons:

  • Mentors chapter leaders to support advocacy engagement opportunities.
  • Provides advocacy resources for chapters and districts as needed.
  • Oversees Advocacy Month and Legislative Action Week.

The Advocacy Committee meets quarterly, with other opportunities to connect with chapter advocacy chairs throughout the term.
